Pain Management
Pain is one of the unfortunate parts of being human, and that means that we have all experienced it to varying degrees at some point in our lives. Pain comes in many shapes and forms, whether you are dealing with a recent injury like a pulled muscle, a repetitive motion injury like carpal tunnel or knee inflammation, or a chronic condition like debilitating sciatica or lower back pain.
We understand pain
Pain can be dull and achy, sharp and pointy, or numb and tingly. Sometimes the cause of the pain is straightforward and easy to treat - like a sprained ankle, but many times it is more complex and more challenging to diagnose and effectively treat. Anyone who has had a complex or chronic pain condition can understand how much it can affect your day to day life, including your mood, work, and enjoyment of simple daily activities. Tasks that were once simple and easy become difficult or next to impossible.
We know how to treat pain
When you come to Opus for help with pain management, we look at the whole picture, not just the body part, (or parts) that are causing you pain. With a joint approach utilizing acupuncture, nutritional guidance, and massage, we can help you to make a plan to functionally improve your life and manage your pain.
Client Testimonials
I was at my wits end with constant pain & not sleeping. I was taking several medications with minimal results... After only 3 treatments I was taking medications much less and I was sleeping better. Although I was skeptical at first acupuncture has really worked for me. I plan to continue my treatments and stop all medications. I would recommend acupuncture to anyone suffering with pain like I was. My quality of life has greatly improved thanks to Dr. O'Brien & Opus Acupuncture.Hugh W. Pain Management
Until I began with acupuncture I lived with pain daily. I tried other forms of therapy for pain and I was considering surgery. I was terrified that the surgery would not help with the pain. Acupuncture changed all that. I've not had surgery and I feel like I have a new lease on life.Christine A. Pain Management
I was in constant pain for over a year. It was a "family" of muscle knots in my back. I tried deep tissue massage, and had a massage pillow that I used several times a day. After my first visit, as I was sitting in the car in the lot, I said to myself: "I feel amazing", hoping it would last. For the next week, I only felt brief twinges of pain but they would go away within minutes. I haven't used my massage pillow since that first visit. I have future visits scheduled and plan to be on "maintenance" thereafter. Linnea was totally in touch with what I needed on my first visit -- I told my friends I found a "miracle worker".Joyce W. Multi-tiered approach
At Opus, we have the ability to create a customized treatment plan using multiple modalities including acupuncture, massage, diet and lifestyle recommendations, and herbs and supplements to treat your immediate pain concern, while working toward optimal health and less pain in your future. For example, we might recommend treating sciatica and low back pain with a combination of Shiatsu and myofascial massage, acupuncture, and an anti-inflammatory herbal formula. If you are suffering from headaches or migraines, naturopathic medicine might help you find systemic answers, while we can treat the immediate pain with acupuncture. Irregular menstruation and menstrual pain can be treated with acupuncture and herbs, while blood tests and subsequent treatments with naturopathic medicine can help identify root causes. Orthopaedic massage is very effective at recent injury treatment and pre and post surgery coupled with acupuncture.
